I am not sure what it is, but it seems to have a grainy quality, like somewhere between a regular prime time show and a soap opera. Has anyone else noticed anything like that? I wonder if it is done for effect or to save money. thoughts?

My friends and I actually REALLY enjoyed this show. No, it is not accurate, the same as ALL TV shows, but at least it was a fresh spin on a medical show. We are all so tired of the same old emergency room drama stuff out there. Always the same same same. This was medical, but different. It was just a nice change. Kept our interest.

I am searching for the right words to describe how insanely inappropriate, disturbing, misinformed, and stupid this show is. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner I am disgusted by every character on your show. The behavior of each actor is so wildly off the charts of professional behavior, 30 years in the field and i have NEVER seen the scenarios you depict. The violations of patient rights, laws and crossing of boundaries by therapists and patients is unconscionable. I wonder who the writers and advisers could be? If they consulted licensed, informed mental health providers, then they need to lose their licenses. The writers and producers just need to be fired for misleading the public and for being morons. I'm berating myself for even spending the time to see how MENTAL would be portrayed and wasting more time writing this email. DISGUSTING!

FOX should be ashamed. Truly. I hope every Bipolar Child advocacy group in the U.S. comes after the network for it's stereotypical and inaccurate portrayal of the disorder. I used to love FOX and was looking forward to this show. Now I am disappointed and angry.

Um, there are so many ways that bipolar disorders present; I am sorry that they didn't portray your son's exact case. I have worked with many people quite similar to the character on the episode and perhaps you should invest your energy in explaining your son's case; bipolar 1, bipolar 2, Cyclothymic disorder, mixed bipolar, rapid cycling bipolar or many others- presented itself so that more people can become educated on all of the various forms of this awful disease. My father and brother are paranoid schizophrenics and neither have ever shown a side of passive remorse as the character of Dr. Gallagher’s sister demonstrates but I am just happy that a network gave her such human qualities. When I watch my brother in an episode, I find nothing human about it, it is horrible and I would hate for a medium such as TV to further feed society’s fears of mental illness. Doors have now been opened for people like us to be able to write in and provide various info that could be used in future episodes. I am trying to stay passive here as I just spent 30 min. trying to find the closing dialog, something about losing a part of one's self in order to ever really feel whole, as I am trying to deal with the fact that I have to have my brother hospitalized again and the show's portrayal of the fear and the sorrow associated with caring for a loved one that is ill from the perspective of someone working in the mental health profession was dead on. There was nothing "stereotypical" about the young boy's case aside from the show’s emphasis that parents with misguided anger and fears could often hinder rather than help the progress of their children by remaining trapped in their own ignorance; in that Fox should fear no attacks from the advocacy groups of say every other form of bipolar illness, except for yours. Peri Craig, your made me cry happy tears I am so happy for you, what you must have felt inside when his diagnosis was corrected.

The hospital director never seems to dress appropriately for the show. She doesn't seem to dress professionally. The low cute blue dress on tonight's episode is inappropriate for most job places, especially a mental health hospital.

"So do you think her inappropriate attire is meant to suggest that she's actually mentally ill or unstable? " Not at all! As I said, it is an exaggeration, meant to make a point for viewers to catch about her inward personality (the show is excellent about challenging viewers in this way). As to what it indicates, it is simply that she is fully and entirely human. Everyone has quirks, idiocyncrocies, past baggage that is carried forward ... our little neuroses that make us fully-formed human beings (even in the case of "partial personality disorders" *grin*. The name there is a bit of a misnomer). It is a fictional show, and the demonstrating of inward character traits in this way is a common and very effective tool of fiction. It assists readers / viewers to get a quick grasp of a character's inward nature without spending massive amounts of time in childhood / adolescent flashbacks, or multiple crisis leading to deep interpersonal discussions that would compromise the developing character dynamics and most certainly make Nora appear "unstable."

I thought the eppy was pretty cool, an example of mindfulness exercises, by adding the backpack, added on opening to control outcomes. COOL EPPY!
