I am searching for the right words to describe how insanely inappropriate, disturbing, misinformed, and stupid this show is. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner I am disgusted by every character on your show. The behavior of each actor is so wildly off the charts of professional behavior, 30 years in the field and i have NEVER seen the scenarios you depict. The violations of patient rights, laws and crossing of boundaries by therapists and patients is unconscionable. I wonder who the writers and advisers could be? If they consulted licensed, informed mental health providers, then they need to lose their licenses. The writers and producers just need to be fired for misleading the public and for being morons. I'm berating myself for even spending the time to see how MENTAL would be portrayed and wasting more time writing this email. DISGUSTING! 15  out of 44 found this valuable. Do you?

If there was an actual show that followed the rules and actual happenings no one would watch! Life is boring that is why we watch TV! This job is job protection for you, because if people believe it to such an extent that they live(wrong choice of words but hopefully you get my drift) it, they need to see you as a patient! 4  out of 6 found this valuable. I know how indsulted you must feel to have your job protrayed on a TV show as something it's not.
But you must realise that the senarioes that are put on tv are exactly that.
IT"S TV>
you're acting like the freaking church and the Davinci code. there's a reason it's called fiction and TV.

I'm a mother of a child with Tourette's. Along with Tourette's you get the rest of all the mental issues as well, Bi-Polor, OCD, PDD, Anxiety Disorder and Learning disabilities. I live every day wondering what is going on in my son's mind sometimes, so even though I am well aware this show is an exageration, they still did show us what life might be like for a child with mental disabilities and maybe what he might be thinking. I can't understand why my 10 year old son won't even go to the bathroom alone, but seeing the fears they portrayed that child having in his mind via video game, it helps me understand some. Or even letting America know that a kid that looks perfectly normal may not just be a BRAT, he may have something really wrong. I battle the stares and the questions on why I just didn't beat him more, so now maybe people will think twice before making accusations. Any kind of Knowledge is better than none. And questioning the way the doctors on the show act, PLEASE!!! They call it Practicing Medicine for a reason, No doctor has the magic answer.

I agree the show is entertaining and most of the shows on television now are just trying to get people's attention, not to portray actual patients. It is the same case with 'house' the drug addicted doctor, who can't seem to stay out of the medicine cabinet, their patients are made up. Every show needs someone to get interested about it, even if it is in an unusual way.

I love this show! I have bipolar and so does my son. People are ridiculous bitching about this show. I'm glad they came out with a show about mental illness. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

If the show depicted real life, it wouldn't be entertaining. I'll bet you're not fond of "Nurse Jackie" either? Love "Nurse Jackie". 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Jesus, how come every show has to be like the real thing? Seriously, I think people know that real psychiatric facility's aren't like that, but people wouldn't watch if it were like that, people know that Bones isn't really like the books, Criminal Minds is put so lightly than the real thing, CSI does have SOME techniques but not all, that's why people get caught. It's not supposed to be the same, your just making yourself look like an idiot. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Now I can see how in some ways your offended by the ways the characters act, but this is the first show I've seen in my 15 years of life about mental health! I was so happy that they finally created a show that focuses on mental health and not just physical health. Mental health is extreamly hard to foucs on because its not like a broken leg or a cold. you can't physically see it through a test. This is the House of mental health. I've been waiting a long time for a show like this. I have been diagnosed with so many mental disorders and i've been admitted to 4 phych wards, so i know this isn't exactly what phych wards are like. But house isn't like a regualr hospital either. But there are things I like on the show, like they dont diagnose everyone with the same thing, (Like they do in regular phych wards). Im on 4 different phych medications(Lithium, Topomax,Zoloft, and Seroquil).Just so I can function during the day. I've lived in a residental home for a half a year. I've overdosed on pills. Im wayyy into to fuckedup kid-mental-shit and I love that i can relate to this show. And it also has alittle medical in it. which is good for me. cause I also have Celiacs disese. I know I got the lucky genes. Plus my dads on prozac and my moms on effexor xr. My cousin recently commited suicide. She was anorexic/ schizophic and bipolar. So bottom line here. GET THE FUCK OVER IT. so what if its not exactly like the phych ward? if It was it wouldnt be allowed on tv. 5  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

If I need to see how things are really done on the menta health department I will wacht a documental not a T.V show relax!!! This not discovery, Is not natgeo, is FOX hello??? ... Finally a show of mental health that shows in some way the perspective of the pacient ( sometimes and perhaps). Im not saying that is exactly like that. Im saying that this shows takes out the taboo on many mental illness so the other people from outside can begin to understand what is really going on.

Thanks for making my point. they can't understand if they are fed inappropriate, inaccurate and misleading information. Everything about this show screams of Hollywood and ratings without the slightest forethought of demystifying mental illness.

You try describing your illness and treatment in a rational manner and then show how emotionally unbalanced you really are by "yelling" GET THE FUCK OVER IT. Nice way to demonstrate your medications are helping. Get control of yourself and learn how to have a discussion without yelling obscenities at anonymous people who try to post a helpful comment. When is the last time you had a lithium level drawn? 2  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

You might want to pick up a dictionary and learn some spelling techniques. As is spell check is not enough. People who can't spell simple, everyday words usually don't have interesting, cogent responses. This show does NOT demonstrate "what is really going on."
Why would you think I am not relaxed...or is it too difficult to understand that a professional might be watching the show to see what it is feeding the public and trying to help them distinguish reality from gratuitous grabs for ratings? Wake up and smell the coffee. It's NOT just TV. It's how misinformed people continue to feed themselves misinformation.
