Anyone notice anything strange about the way the show looks?
Jun 3 2009, 3:23 PM EDT
I am not sure what it is, but it seems to have a grainy quality, like somewhere between a regular prime time show and a soap opera. Has anyone else noticed anything like that? I wonder if it is done for effect or to save money. thoughts?

Yes, I have noticed this effect, too. I've read that the series is shot in Bogota, Columbia . . . do they have a different TV standard there? I'm thinking that the video quality is similar to results from converting European PAL video to our North American NTSC (sp?) video. There is a non-tech difference in the looks of the show that I've noticed, too. In head and shoulder shots of two people talking, the actors seem to be standing uncomfortably close to each other.. In tonight's episode (the Judging episode), this standing very close would have signalled that there was a relationship between our psychiatrist and the model/daughter . . . but the close-standing, we're-so-close-we're-spitting--in-each-other's-face-as-we-say-our-lines, stance, was there between other characters, too. Is this close-standing thing, a hallmark of Columbian production values, perhaps? Or maybe a consequence of the kind of cameras that are used in Columbian television production? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

i have noticed and i really have been thinking about this show. I wonder if this small effect was done on purpose because when this show ends maybe the doctor is not a doctor at all. Maybe he is really a mental patient and all of this will turn out to be an illusion or hallucination?

He could be a mental patient based on the way his character get's in the minds of his patients also the fact that his 'twin' sister is mentally ill, so it could be genetic. maybe someone could figure that out, It would make a good episode.

What I notice is the sound quality. Very poor. I have watched every week and cannot understand the lead character. I know he has an Aussie accent, but I miss half of the dialogue every episode.

My friends and I actually REALLY enjoyed this show. No, it is not accurate, the same as ALL TV shows, but at least it was a fresh spin on a medical show. We are all so tired of the same old emergency room drama stuff out there. Always the same same same. This was medical, but different. It was just a nice change. Kept our interest.
