Um, there are so many ways that bipolar disorders present; I am sorry that they didn't portray your son's exact case. I have worked with many people quite similar to the character on the episode and perhaps you should invest your energy in explaining your son's case; bipolar 1, bipolar 2, Cyclothymic disorder, mixed bipolar, rapid cycling bipolar or many others- presented itself so that more people can become educated on all of the various forms of this awful disease. My father and brother are paranoid schizophrenics and neither have ever shown a side of passive remorse as the character of Dr. Gallagher’s sister demonstrates but I am just happy that a network gave her such human qualities. When I watch my brother in an episode, I find nothing human about it, it is horrible and I would hate for a medium such as TV to further feed society’s fears of mental illness. Doors have now been opened for people like us to be able to write in and provide various info that could be used in future episodes. I am trying to stay passive here as I just spent 30 min. trying to find the closing dialog, something about losing a part of one's self in order to ever really feel whole, as I am trying to deal with the fact that I have to have my brother hospitalized again and the show's portrayal of the fear and the sorrow associated with caring for a loved one that is ill from the perspective of someone working in the mental health profession was dead on. There was nothing "stereotypical" about the young boy's case aside from the show’s emphasis that parents with misguided anger and fears could often hinder rather than help the progress of their children by remaining trapped in their own ignorance; in that Fox should fear no attacks from the advocacy groups of say every other form of bipolar illness, except for yours. Peri Craig, your made me cry happy tears I am so happy for you, what you must have felt inside when his diagnosis was corrected.

I love this show for many reasons. Mental illness is still an illness that people hate to talk about. Most people who have a family member with a mental condition find shame in it. These people are still discriminated against in this age of super available knowledge. Anything you may apply to or for, asks the question "do you suffer from a mental illness" and for most companies it's like asking "do you have aides" which is against the law to ask, but not mental illness. FOX please keep this show on, it so ministers to us who battle such things as OCD, bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, PTSD and these are only a few. There hasn't been another show on TV that has had the guts to deal with this issue and the truth behind these illnesses. Keep this show on and the great stories that keeps me glued to my chair in anticipation

"If the show comes back there is another way they can bring jack back. They can see if he will come work with a patient they cant controll and offer his job back if this happens I hope Carl is gone or fired in the next season if there is one. I hope there is another season."

Whatever the way they could bring him back, They should bring the show anyway.The end wasn't so complicated that they couldn't, I will accept any stupid excuse. I think this show is great and deserves to continue.

new and different? What a concept!!! They have an intelligent character who just happens to be a lesbian! Someday maybe that won't be new and different. I appreciate that she 'just happens' to be a lesbian and no big issue is made of it.
