Jack Gallagher is fascinated by the mind. Either by coincidence or that Jack's sister Becky is mentally ill, Dr. Gallagher surrounds himself with psychiatry. Dr. Gallagher's dad was in the military, mum worked as a nurse at a VA hospital. He would come by after school sometimes and was interested in a man who believed his amputated foot itched. Although we are led to believe that maybe this isn't the entire truth. Jack ran a clinic in Vermont prior to moving to become Director of psychiatric services in LA. Jack meets Nora at a conference (or a ski trip?) and is offered the position of "head honcho". Jack decides to accept and hopes to find Becky, who has been living homeless somewhere in LA. She often calls, but never speaks. Jack offers her money and support and asks her to stop by the clinic but this is usually where she hangs up. Jack is stubborn, caring and willing to look silly in approach to psychiatry but is determined to lead team into helping their patients even if they sometimes think Jack's mental...! | | | |
