I don't know about you guys, but this show is like House. But yet it's different. Don't get me wrong...I love Hugh Laurie and the badass he plays...but I still love this new Jack guy. He still has House's badass style, but is nicer and shows that he cares. I love this show alot, since I want to become a psychiatrist. But you shoulden't dis is cause it's a doctor diagnosing show just like House. It has it's differences.

The differences are very definately there. House has a hardened callous exterior, and a pretty prickly inner layer before you get to the exceptionally wounded, vunerable person under it all. The man has serious issues, not the least of which is his addictive disorder (only the most obvious part being seen in the chronic pill-popping). Gallagher shows far more compassion, but he also hasn't had the same road to walk or the years of chronic pain. Additionally, his sister's situation makes him somewhat guarded, both toward what he reveals to others, and what he permits in himself. I think that he would be very atypical as an addictive personality.
Both characters have their obvious similarities, as well ... a certain oppositional defiance when their modalities of treatment conflict with accepted methods or popular opinion, and an uncany (except in fiction) tendancy to be invariably correct. Ah, if only the fiction were a more accurate representation of life! Unfortunately, such brilliance is rare ... on the other hand, I'm not entirely certain I'd want either as my attending doctor. Colleague, perhaps ... and as entertainment, pure enjoyment!
